{"id":12100,"date":"2021-02-18T09:38:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T14:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cnewa.org\/ca\/?p=12100"},"modified":"2025-07-08T17:55:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T21:55:09","slug":"eastern-churches-more-than-precious-relics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnewa.org\/ca\/eastern-churches-more-than-precious-relics\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastern Churches: More Than Precious Relics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Vatican News continued this week its series on the works of the various \u201cdicasteries\u201d that make up the governing ministries of the Holy See, focusing on the Congregation for Eastern Churches \u2014 CNEWA\u2019s closest partner \u2014 in an interview with its prefect, Argentine Cardinal Leonardo Sandri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interview spanned a breadth of topics, including the pastoral role of the Bishop of Rome and his relationship to these autonomous churches of the Catholic communion, themes of synodality and collegiality, our shared witness of Christian hope, and the pressing challenges of persecution, discrimination and migration of the Eastern Christian faithful:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCertainly, the fronts on which our Eastern faithful live are particularly dramatic,\u201d Cardinal Sandri said. \u201cWe have now reached the tenth year of the Syrian conflict and no solution seems to be in sight.
