On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Dr. Adriana Bara, National Director of CNEWA Canada, and Judith Poitevien, Office Manager, participated in a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reception took place at the Apostolic Nunciature in Ottawa. His Eminence, Most Rev. Ivan Jurkovi\u010d, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, and Senator Tony Loffreda presented on the contributions of Pope Francis towards reconciliation between the Church and the Indigenous peoples of Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nuncio mentioned that significant steps towards sincere reconciliation were made since the historic visit of Pope Francis to Canada last year. Both the Apostolic Nuncio and the Senator emphasized the diplomatic role that Pope Francis plays in the fight against discrimination.  They also spoke about the efforts to achieve equality between peoples regardless of their cultural background, race and religion. The Nuncio invited us all to contribute towards reconciliation and to be sincerely open towards encounter with Indigenous peoples of Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two addresses were followed by a reception where the guests, ambassadors of many countries in Canada, and representatives of the Catholic Church enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
