Sadly, more than 400 people were killed, while 250 people are still unaccounted for. The collapse of the main bridge connecting the affected area to the nearest town, Chooralmala, has also significantly hampered rescue efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tragedy has garnered global attention, with Pope Francis requesting support for the victims and offering prayers for their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayanad Social Service Society (WSSS) is playing a pivotal role in the rescue and relief operations. A dedicated team of 130 volunteers is tirelessly working on the ground, providing essential assistance to those affected. In addition, 30 trained counselors are offering psychological support to help individuals cope with the trauma of the disaster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WSSS is ensuring that the relief camps are well-equipped with vital supplies, including food materials, clothing, drinking water, and WaSH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) items. Their comprehensive efforts are crucial in addressing both the immediate and long-term needs of the affected communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
