Imagine having something so basic as drinkable water taken away from you, being forced out of not only your house but your home <\/em>\u2013 and leaving everything to become rubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we continue to reflect through this Lenten season of sacrifice and offerings, we are nevertheless reminded of those who must sacrifice everything having their autonomy stripped away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a most recent update from CNEWA Jerusalem\u2019s Regional Director Joseph Hazboun, we hear how their freedom to live with basic necessities has been brutally corrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFollowing the tragic resumption of airstrikes in Gaza by the Israeli air force, it has been reported by the UN that over 404 people were killed among whom some 170 children, and 562 injured.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

We hear that main road crossings have been shut with very limited to no way for commuting or delivering humanitarian aid supplies. Necessities for living such as food, water, medicine, fuel or medical supplies have no way to get to those who need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople are desperate to go back to their homes, while others have tried to find their homes amongst the debris and rubble. People need water and electricity. However, water tanks that could be put on the rooftop and filled with desalinated water are unavailable in Gaza. Electricity generators are unavailable, even if the prices are really high. If there were generators available, fuel to run them is scarce.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Currently, CNEWA\u2019s tireless and lifesaving work on the ground continues to support the local community through several local institutions including: Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, the Women Graduate Society, AISHAH Women Society, SPARK, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please consider a Lenten offering to those who sacrifice an immeasurable amount to simply live, and above all, pray for peace. Pray for the innocent families, children and workers who are doing everything to protect the most vulnerable of our world.<\/p>\n\n\n
