The delegation of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Catholic Church met with CNEWA staff on October 9, 2025, to share experience of enduring and finding hope on the 3rd year of Russian military aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patriarchal Curia has been CNEWA\u2019s a key partner on the ground in Ukraine since the founding of its Ukraine Program 20 years ago. Together we have been working on re-establishing the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church after it emerged from the soviet oppression and on the development of the Church\u2019s strong social support of Ukrainians.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022 when Russia decided to invade Ukraine openly and completely, Patriarchal foundation Mudra Sprava<\/em> led by Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, played a pivotal role in providing essential supplies and shelter to people living near the frontline. Since 2022 CNEWA has helped Mudra Sprava<\/em> to supply 82,070 food boxes to 164,140 people in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u201cProjects like Food Boxes through which you can serve people and pray with them give me hope in times of war\u201d, says Fr. Lyubomyr. He also compared Ukraine\u2019s giving up fighting to African Americans\u2019 going back to slavery. \u201cWould they agree to give up the freedom and equality they have been fighting for so long? No. So won\u2019t Ukraine\u201d. Natalia and Iryna who work in Patriarchal Curia offices in Kyiv and L\u2019viv also shared first-hand experiences of work perseverance. \u201cWhether night shelling deprives us from sleep or not, we have to get things done\u201d, says Iryna Havryshkevych Head of the Department of Charitable Projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we pray for the war in Ukraine to end, millions of people are still in a desperate need of support. In 2026 CNEWA and the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC would like to help prepare 600 priests to support the victims of war in Ukraine and provide group rehabilitation sessions for 90 members of military families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work that Ukrainian Catholic Church does, in part with the support of CNEWA and through your donations, is nothing short of lifesaving.
