The CNEWA Canada team wishes to thank you for joining us on May 6th<\/sup> for our webinar on the situation in the Middle East. Your solidarity with those suffering in Lebanon and across the region is was a powerful sign of faith-filled hope for people continuing to endure hardship, displacement and loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were grateful to hear from Joseph Hazboun, CNEWA\u2019s regional director in Jerusalem<\/strong>, who continues to serve the faithful with courage amid tragic fires, heartbreaking attacks and the ongoing emergencies and uncertainty in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEspecially during this Easter season, the empty tomb in Jerusalem – which we have the privilege of visiting – is a constant sign of hope. Death and suffering are not the end. Our Lord has risen and He is with us.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>– Joseph Hazboun, responding to the question, \u201cHow do you find hope in times of suffering?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

We are also thankful to Michel Constantin, CNEWA\u2019s regional director in Beirut, Lebanon<\/strong>, for his updates on the devastating realities of displacement and loss. He spoke about bombardments in the heart of Christian communities and shared that nearly one million people have been displaced since the escalation of violence in Lebanon. He also highlighted the life-giving programs which are made possible through your generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have been working for CNEWA for 37 years, and I still have the energy to continue serving this mission because this is not simply a job for us – it is a mission. As long as there are missionaries, life will continue.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>– Michel Constantin, responding to the question, \u201cHow do you find hope in times of suffering?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The conversation was thoughtfully moderated by Dr. Adriana Bara, National Director of CNEWA Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we reflected not only on the immense challenges facing the Middle East today, but also on the enduring hope found in parishes, schools, pastoral programs, families and communities that are being rebuilt and sustained through faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
