Is CNEWA still able to provide aid abroad with COVID still affecting the countries you serve?

Yes, our mission remains the same: to accompany the Eastern Catholic Churches in their good works in good times and in bad. Although some of our projects have had to adapt to the new realities that these communities are facing, our partners in the field continue to serve the temporal needs of the poor and the marginalized, as well as their pastoral needs. They are working hard to give quality humanitarian and pastoral aid.

Are you accepting donations at this time?

Yes, we are still accepting your generous donations and are able to send the funds almost as quickly as before to our offices and programs in the Middle East, Northeast Africa, Eastern Europe and India.

What forms of donation are you accepting?

If it’s at all possible, please consider donating online here or by phone 1-866-322-4441. However, you can still send your gift in the form of a cheque made payable to CNEWA Canada.

We are also giving people the option of sending their donations via Interac e-transfer. If you would like to explore this option, please phone our office at 1-866-322-4441 and leave your name and number or send us an email at canada@cnewa.org. Someone will get back to you and explain in more detail how you can e-transfer your donation.

Can I give through PayPal?

Yes, please go to CanadaHelps.org and CNEWA Canada’s page here, then follow the instructions.

Does my donation go to the Vatican?

No, in accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency, all funds we receive go directly to our Regional Offices and partners with whom we work overseas.

Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes, as we are a registered charity, you will receive a tax receipt for any donation over $10. Please note that there will be some delay in issuing your tax receipt due to government measures taken to combat the pandemic. Our Charitable Registration Number is: 86775 7502 RR 0001.

How has your office changed since the pandemic started?

Our office has had to adapt to the new realities of the pandemic. Some of our staff are now working remotely in order to limit the number of staff in the office at the same time. Because we are not in the same working space, we’ve been working on improving communication channels between staff to better serve you and your needs. We apologize if during this time of transition you did not receive the level of care that you have come to know and expect from CNEWA Canada.
