Today, and with the Catholic Church, we cannot forget the people of Ukraine, where war continues to devastate families, displace communities, and take innocent lives.
We are reminded of the late Pope Francis’ urgent call: “Peace is a duty, peace is a gift, peace is everyone’s responsibility.”
CNEWA, together with our partners on the ground, is providing emergency aid which includes important food, shelter, medical care, and pastoral support to those suffering in Ukraine. Yet the needs remain great.
With your help and as we approach 2026, we wish to support Ukrainian women, men and children in projects in Ukraine such as:
- Vocational training for young adults whose lives have been upended by war.
- Summer rehabilitation camps to help children heal from trauma.
- The Orphan Care Centre in Lviv, which offers safety and stability to vulnerable children and families.
- Specialized programs for girls to restore dignity, security, and hope.
- Sustaining a Mission in Izium
Since 2017, the Buchach Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has been carrying out a humanitarian mission in the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region. Although the Eparchy itself is based far from the front line, it helps support priests on the ground who work daily to maintain peace, while bringing hope to the local community.
Izium, located just 35 kilometers from the warzone, was liberated three years ago, after the world witnessed atrocities there that shocked humanity. Today, the city stands as a symbol of an indomitable spirit and daily struggle for survival.
