CNEWA Canada

An explosion at a fuel depot in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, where thousands of Armenians were gathering to refuel their cars to flee their homes, has killed at least 125 people, on 26 September.

Last week, Armenia’s prime minister, Nikol Pashinyan, accused Azerbaijan of “ethnic cleansing” for its choking of the region’s population, depriving them of food, fuel and other necessities even as they assaulted the enclave.

Already, the leadership of the Armenian Catholic Church has contacted CNEWA for help to assist those who are rushing to leave the region, most with nothing on their backs and no guarantee of safety, as the Azerbaijani military occupy and consolidate the once Armenian-dominated enclave.

CNEWA is committed to assisting our partners on the ground in and around Armenia at this crucial time. As the situation develops, we will be monitoring updates and reporting on the CNEWA blog.

Please, give what you can to aid them — before it’s too late. Thank you.
