The crisis in Ukraine continues, millions of children are experiencing tremendous consequences of merciless war

As a result of the ongoing war and countless Ukrainians fleeing their homes, there continues to be an incredible shortage in vital necessities of life, such as food, water, electricity and gas.

Russian invasion caused a humanitarian crisis, increased needs for protection and psychological assistance of children all over the country.

Children and their close ones are experiencing anxiety and fear for their own life and health as well as their relatives.

They suffer from education disruption, family separation, displacement, and social isolation, as well as face psychological problems caused by traumatizing experiences.

While all Ukrainian children are traumatized by war, some need critical help, specifically children who are displaced, orphaned, socially vulnerable and those with mild disabilities.

Child protection, safety and psychological support is one of CNEWA’s priorities in Ukraine this year.

Who will we be helping?

Together with your help we will work with our partners on the ground to provide Ukrainian children with safe places to play, learn and get mental and emotional support. We will also help Congregations in their care for the traumatized orphans and socially vulnerable girls.

The war continues on and the need is still very great. If you are able, please make a donation towards Ukraine.

Additionally, you can provide food, shelter and heat for those who have lost the basic necessities for living in Ukraine. To find out more follow this link: Food boxes for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian bishops of Canada continue working together with their churches to support CNEWA’s Ukraine program.  We offer our thanks to them as well as all our donors for their steadfast support.

The war in Ukraine is taking its toll on the entire population, but children particularly are vulnerable to the long-term effects of war-related trauma. In response, Caritas Ukraine has implemented programs in centers across the nation to address the psychosocial needs of children, teens and their families. In this video, hear from Caritas Ukraine staff and the children they serve through these centers.
