At the invitation of Bishop Paul-Marwan Tabet, Eparch of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal, and the spiritual leader of Maronite Catholics across Canada, I represented CNEWA Canada with great joy at the recent Maronite Youth Convention in Montreal — a remarkable gathering that brought together over 900 young Maronite Catholics from across the country. The sheer scale and spirit of this event were nothing short of inspiring.

I was profoundly moved to witness the vitality of the Maronite Church in Canada, embodied in the faith and energy of its young people. In a world that often pulls youth away from their spiritual roots, this convention was a powerful sign of renewal, community, and hope.

The convention was enriched by the presence of His Excellency Archbishop Michel Jalakh, Secretary of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches at the Vatican, whose words and witness reminded us of the deep ties that unite the Eastern Churches with the universal Church as well as Sister Marie-Antoinette Saadé of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family in Lebanon, whose testimony deeply resonated with the young participants.

A number of ecclesial, academic, business and political dignitaries from across Canada were also present, underlining the significance of this national gathering and the role of young Maronites in the life of the Church and society.
Over the course of the convention, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with many of the guests and with youth. The youth’s joy, their questions, and their deep love for their Maronite identity reminded me why CNEWA remains committed to walking with the Eastern Catholic Churches and supporting their efforts to form new generations in faith, service, and leadership.
This convention was not only a moment of celebration—it was a clear call to continue investing in youth, in vocations, and in the living traditions of the Eastern Catholic Churches. I left the convention with renewed hope and a heart full of gratitude.
May God bless these young leaders and may the seeds planted during this blessed event bear fruit for the Church in Canada and beyond.
