On Thursday, August 13, I had the honour of joining the president and members of the Alliance of Middle-Eastern Christians in Canada for a visit with His Excellency Bachir Tawk, Ambassador of Lebanon to Canada.
Our discussions highlighted the importance of solidarity, dialogue, and prayer at this challenging time for the peoples of the Middle East.
Looking ahead to September 26, a special Mass for Peace in the Middle East will be celebrated at Notre Dame Cathedral in Ottawa, under the patronage of Bishop Marwan Tabet of the Maronite Church in Canada. Archbishop Marcel Damphousse, Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall, will celebrate the Mass.
Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Catholic bishops of Canada will participate, together with ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives of Middle Eastern communities serving in Canada.
CNEWA is honoured to be one of the partners helping to organize this important gathering.
I am deeply grateful that CNEWA’s commitment to supporting the churches and communities it serves throughout the Middle East continues to be recognized.
May this celebration unite us in prayer and renew our shared commitment to peace, dignity, and hope for all the peoples of the Middle East.
