When parents are preparing to enroll students at St. Sophia Catholic Lyceum in Lviv, the first question they ask is: What does your bomb shelter look like?
The Rev. Taras Mysiakovskyy, school director, shows them the shelter, explaining that the walls are thick because the monastery where the school is located was built early in the 17th century.
Church-run programs in Ukraine are hoping to soften the impact of more than four years of war on children. Some programs include developmental activities and art-therapy techniques to help children work through their emotions and reduce aggression.
