CNEWA’s next webinar, “Connections with Msgr. Peter,” will air on Wednesday, 17 August, at 7 p.m. EDT. In the spirit of August’s numerous feast days dedicated to the Virgin Mary, CNEWA’s president will offer reflections on Marian spirituality.
At an audience on Saturday, 6 August, Pope Francis said, “I encourage you to entrust yourselves daily to the Virgin Mary… Our Lady will help you to have a generous heart, to discover the joy of freely serving others…”
In July’s seminar, Msgr. Vaccari reminded viewers to care for their neighbor. These two ideas, care for one’s neighbor and having a “generous heart,” are inextricably linked and remain at the core of CNEWA’s mission.
Msgr. Vaccari will also provide updates on CNEWA’s work, particularly surrounding the recent release of $2.8 million in emergency aid to Ukraine and the second anniversary of the devastating port blast in Beirut, Lebanon. With offices in vulnerable areas, such as Beirut, it is essential to understand what is happening on the ground. Msgr. Vaccari will convey updates from regional directors on the situations in their respective areas of responsibility.
On a recent trip to Chicago, Msgr. Vaccari emphasized the significance of these offices: “CNEWA never works alone,” he said. “We always work with the local churches on the ground. Few organizations have offices and partners on the ground as does CNEWA.”
Previous installments have featured details from Msgr. Vaccari’s audience with Pope Francis and a broadcast from Jerusalem with information on the situation in Gaza, along with spiritual reflections.
Msgr. Vaccari views the online seminar as a way to share the work of the agency with donors, and to “show a greater transparency and … a greater accountability of the work you have entrusted to CNEWA to carry out,” as he explained in last month’s webinar.
