“A national catastrophe.”

That is how the mayor of Beirut described the massive explosion that rocked the city’s waterfront on Tuesday, 4 August. It is a catastrophe growing worse by the hour. Thousands have been injured, the death toll is climbing, and the country is reeling in shock. It came at a moment when Lebanon was already facing the coronavirus pandemic and a collapsed economy.

Lebanon is in crisis.

Our office in Beirut sustained damage from the blast, but our Regional Director Michel Constantin and his staff are working to get help to those in need.

And the need is great.

With hospitals overwhelmed and food supplies cut off, Lebanon has been shaken to its core. CNEWA is launching an emergency relief fund to provide food, health care and shelter to thousands. Click the button below to help.

As we stand in solidarity with the suffering men, women and children of Lebanon, please join us in praying for them at this moment of crisis.

Thank you and God bless you.
