The Catholic Press Association (CPA) has presented CNEWA’s bimonthly magazine with seven awards, including first place for general excellence.
CNEWA’s editorial staff received the awards during the CPA’s annual convention, held in late May in Washington, D.C.
In awarding the magazine with first place for general excellence for a mission magazine, one judge said the magazine was “first class all the way.”
Other awards for 2003 included:
- First Place, Best Single Photo, Black and White: Peter Lemieux for “Mistre Kinde” in “A Flicker of Candlelight,” September-October
- Second Place, Best Feature Article: “Human Touch Offers Pensioners Respite,” by Natalia Antelava, July-August
- Second Place, Best Background/Investigative/Analysis: “Waiting for the Future,” by Sahar Aloul, March-April
- Third Place, Best Feature Article: “A Flicker of Candlelight,” by Peter Lemieux, September-October
- Third Place, Best Single Photo, Black and White: Peter Lemieux for “Genet Assefa” in “A Flicker of Candlelight,” September-October
- Honorable Mention, Best Background/Investigative/Analysis: “Leaving God for God,” by Peter Lemieux, March-April
