CNEWA Editor Retires

Peg Maron, Production Editor at CNEWA WORLD magazine, has officially retired, effective 1 January 2002. She joined the Communications staff of Catholic Near East Welfare Association in Manhattan in 1990, becoming Copy Editor in 1992 and Production Editor in 1993.

She contributed many articles to the magazine, including a four-part series commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Association.

With Brother David Carroll, F.S.C., Assistant to the General Secretary, she interviewed former directors of CNEWA overseas offices to compile an aural history, from 1993 to 1995. Mrs. Maron also served as a Representative to the Non-Governmental Organizations at the United Nations.

Michael J. La Civita, Communications Director at CNEWA, in commenting on Mrs. Maron’s contribution to the magazine, said, “Her tenacious dedication to detail and accuracy earned her the respect of all.”

Before joining CNEWA, Mrs. Maron was on the staff of the Kennedy Child Study Center in Manhattan, taught at St. Francis of Assisi School in Brooklyn and worked in medical journalism.

“I’ve had a good career but it’s time to move on,” she said. “I look forward to having more time for myself, pursuing my own interests,” she added.
