CNEWA Hosts First Golf Outing

On a breezy and sunny Thursday in Plandome, New York, CNEWA held its first golf outing at the Plandome Country Club. The agency reached its fundraising goal at the 18 May event.

“The day was a beautiful experience for everyone participating,” said Mary Beth Fisher, a member of the event volunteer committee. A highlight, she said, was “being in the company of good people wanting to do good.”

Ms. Fisher said she joined the committee to “help share the news” of the work CNEWA is doing “in parts of the world that need peace and humanitarian aid.”

The event kicked off with breakfast at 10 a.m., followed by golf and tournaments in the afternoon. Twenty teams played the course.

The day drew to a close with dinner, a presentation by CNEWA President Msgr. Peter I. Vaccari, a live auction and a raffle.

“In so many of these places where we go, it’s not just a matter of responding to the physical difficulty or challenge, but these people have been traumatized … and we’re trying to help through the psychosocial services,” Msgr. Vaccari said during his presentation.

Money raised at the event was directed to CNEWA’s “Where the Need is Greatest” fund.

These events are “a great way to get CNEWA’s name out there, and we hope to continue to do so,” said Rianna Daniels, major gifts officer and event coordinator for CNEWA.

She encouraged friends of CNEWA to keep other agency events and fundraising opportunities in mind, such as the 5 December gala in New York.

CNEWA extends a special thank you to Anthony McLaughlin, the staff of Plandome Country Club and the volunteer committee.
