Today, Ash Wednesday, we begin our annual Lenten pilgrimage.
In his message for Lent 2024, Pope Francis challenges us to embrace the necessary conversion and change within our hearts that will lead us from enslavement in the desert, to the freedom which is “God’s dream” for us.
This is not an abstract pilgrimage. We hope that the focus of our more intense prayer, purposeful fasting and generous almsgiving will aid us in overcoming our sins and the “globalization of indifference.” We must care for the “other,” as well as the planet we inhabit as stewards of God’s creation.
I invite you today to listen and to reflect on the poem of T. S. Eliot, “Ash Wednesday,” as read by the CNEWA staff. I pray that this offering of the Eliot poem may assist you as you enter this Lenten season of grace. Please click the video below.
Let’s pray for one another. Please pray for all those served by the mission of CNEWA. Thank you.
