Even though it is only the first month of the new year, CNEWA’s World is full of updates. Tune in to “Connections With Msgr. Peter” on 25 January at 7 p.m. EST to hear about the agency’s happenings in January, as well as its goals and plans for 2023.
Msgr. Peter I. Vaccari recently returned from CNEWA’s office in India, where he welcomed the Reverend Abraham Kavilpurayidathil, Ph.D., as executive director and chief functionary for CNEWA’s India Trust, and thanked his predecessor, ML Thomas, for his dedicated years of service.
With an increase in the restrictions on foreign contributions via the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act in India, CNEWA has had to adapt its processes to comply with these amendments to the legislation. As such, this visit was crucial in continuing CNEWA’s commitment to its office in India and the people it serves.
The visit included stops at various CNEWA-funded programs, including seminaries and novitiates, the St. Clare Oral School for the Deaf, the Social Welfare Technical Institute and the Home of Faith, among others. Msgr. Vaccari also attended the Syro-Malabar Church Synod and met with Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal, major archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Church.
Hear more about Msgr. Vaccari’s trip to India in this installment of “Connections With Msgr. Peter.” Thomas Varghese, the director of programs at CNEWA who served as the first executive director and chief functionary of the CNEWA India Trust, will be his guest.
Msgr. Vaccari will also share news regarding his trip to Rome, where he met with other members of the steering committee for ROACO, a coalition of papal agencies that assist the Eastern churches worldwide with humanitarian aid and pastoral support.
Questions can be sent in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org during the Q.-and-A. period or typed into the comments during the livestream.
