Connections With Msgr. Peter: Tune in for Updates!

Msgr. Peter I. Vaccari recently returned from a needs assessment visit to Armenia and Georgia, as well as a visit to Ottawa to welcome the new director of CNEWA in Canada, Adriana Bara.

On Wednesday, 12 October, at 2 p.m., Msgr. Vaccari will reflect on these visits, provide updates from CNEWA’s Annual Global Meetings and detail upcoming friendraising and fundraising events during the livestream of “Connections With Msgr. Peter.” Joining Msgr. Vaccari on this week’s installment is CNEWA’s director of programs, Thomas Varghese, who has accompanied the CNEWA president on several of his needs assessment trips.

CNEWA’s Annual Global Meetings take place over the course of two weeks, highlighting one of the organization’s regional offices each day. The first was the Asmara office in Eritrea located in the Horn of Africa. While restrictions in the country are now in place regarding Catholic health care centers and schools, many of its social services — such as support for children and families affected by HIV, food assistance, aid to single-parent families and empowerment of women in rural areas — remain active and are supported by CNEWA. CNEWA’s Asmara director explained, care for the poor will always be a priority: “Providence will never fail us,” she said.

Updates also will include Msgr. Vaccari’s meeting with Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly of the Knights of Columbus and the monsignor’s visit to the main house of the Madonna House Apostolate, outside Ottawa, in Combermere, Ontario.

The first of CNEWA’s three upcoming events as 2022 winds down will take place on Thursday, 13 October, in Pelham, New York. The art exhibition, entitled “(de) construct” and hosted by InSight Artspace, will raise funds for CNEWA’s activities in Ukraine and will feature the work of six women artists, including two Ukrainian artists. Admission is free; registration is required.

At the end of the livestream program, there will be time for a Q. and A. Questions can be sent in advance to info@cnewa.org or asked in the comments during the livestream.
