The Ethiopian Orthodox Church of the Nativity in Soddo, rebuilt with funds from CNEWA, was recently dedicated. The Orthodox Bishop of Wolayta, Abuna Nicodemos, presided at the ceremony, which was attended by thousands, including priests, deacons and parishioners.
Bishop Domenico Marinozzi, O.F.M. Cap., Apostolic Vicar of Soddo-Hossana, reported that Abuna Nicodemus expressed his gratitude for the assistance of the Catholic Church, particularly its financial help. Bishop Marinozzi said he saw the contribution as a “sign of fraternal friendship between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches: a little stone to the building of ecumenical relations.”
