Human Trafficking: Protecting Vulnerable Families in Armenia

When Armine’s husband went abroad to find work that could support their three sons through their disabilities and illnesses, she never expected that he would not return. She believed her family would be different from the many other households in Armenia, headed by single mothers, abandoned by their husbands, some of whom fell prey to labor trafficking abroad.

But after a few years of travel between their home in Ararat, Armenia, and his work in Russia, this became Armine’s reality, too.

Now, Armine and her children receive assistance for their basic needs from Caritas Armenia — part of a program that helps protect single mothers and their children from extreme poverty as well as exploitation through various forms of human trafficking.

Hear from Armine in this video and read more in “Targeted Twice” in the September 2023 issue of ONE.
