New Executive Editor Announced

Catholic Near East Welfare Association has named Patricia Lynn Morrison Executive Editor of CNEWA WORLD (formerly Catholic Near East), the bimonthly magazine of the $20-million agency.

“Miss Morrison’s knowledge of the church, her interest in the Middle East and her international experience, coupled with her editorial skills, made her an ideal candidate for the post,” said Msgr. Archimandrite Robert L. Stern, CNEWA’s Secretary General and publisher of the award-winning publication.Morrison succeeds Michael J.L. La Civita, a 12-year veteran with the magazine. La Civita assumed the role of Communications Director in August 2000 and will remain an active member of the agency’s Editorial Board. La Civita will also continue to oversee the agency’s publications–print and electronic–and step up its public relations endeavors.

Since 1995, Morrison has been Editor and General Manager of the Catholic Chronicle, the award-winning newspaper of the Diocese of Toledo. Under Miss Morrison’s leadership, the Catholic Chronicle has received more than 35 journalism awards from the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada and various state press associations.

A native of Chicago, Morrison completed studies in journalism, media and theology through The Catholic University of America, the University of Notre Dame, Loyola University of Chicago and the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, Italy.
