The March 2024 issue of ONE magazine is out — and with it comes the launch of the publication’s 50th-anniversary year!
The theme for this edition, “Decades of Healing and Hope,” says it all.
During our anniversary year, the team at ONE will underline our efforts over half a century to report on the faithful work of the Eastern churches around the globe — often in places of crisis — in sustaining faith and addressing the needs of those most vulnerable.
We will also highlight feature articles that have shed light on the many challenges affecting the peoples and churches of CNEWA’s world, as well as stories that have demonstrated the resilience of the Eastern churches in witnessing the Gospel in the face of these struggles.
In this edition, readers will find a reprint of one such article, “Antisemitism and Criticizing Israel,” by Rabbi Michael Lerner, originally published in the January 2006 edition of ONE. Rabbi Lerner’s reflection remains prophetic and relevant today.
In this current issue, readers will also:
- Meet committed young adult Christian leaders in Iraq after years of war and oppression.
- Learn how the church in India is responding to societal changes brought on by the rise of technology, affluence and antireligious violence.
- Witness the impact of ongoing civil unrest in Ethiopia on youth and how church leaders work to inject hope in the situation.
- Discover the efforts of the church in Ukraine to help children, teens and their parents cope with the trauma of war.
- Hear of CNEWA’s response to the pope’s mandate to educate people of good will about the Eastern churches through a commitment to excellence in ONE.
- Receive an invitation to turn to Mary, Mother of God, in these times of crisis in many regions where CNEWA works — but also in gratitude for this anniversary year.
- Learn about a double CNEWA anniversary.
The team at ONE feels proud and privileged to have been given the opportunity to tell moving stories about our Eastern Christian brothers and sisters in these 50 years — many of which would not have been told otherwise — and to continue sharing their witness, including their hopes, fears and dreams, with you, our loyal and generous readers.
