All Membership Awards (magazines, diocesan and national newspapers, newsletters, books and Spanish language periodicals)

First Place

  • Individual Excellence Writer/Editor
    Christopher Boland, Associate Editor
“These are untold stories, rich with the sort of confluence of religion, history, culture and nationalism that reveal true complexity. The writing pulls from multiple sources in ways that allow us to feel as if we’re not seeing a single tile in a great mosaic but the entire mosaic itself. These are a triumph of scope and sound editorial decision-making. And I found myself surprised by the stories told in every piece.”
  • Individual Excellence Photographer/Artist
    Daria Erdosy, Graphic Designer
“A great example of how a clean layout and thoughtful images can tell a story almost without words. I was especially struck by how symbolic many of the images were, capturing the visual heart of the story as only photos can. The mixture of close-up action shots and wide-lens panoramas show a unique talent for capturing the immediate and the distant.”

Second Place

  • Best General Publisher Website, Communications Team
“Sober and classy approach, relying on basic design principles that are executed well. Great use of photos to draw readers to the content.”

Third Place

  • Best Electronic Newsletter
    Discover ONE Online!
    “…very effective.”
  • Best Web and Print Combination
Rain Rich, Water Poor,” by Peter Lemieux, Erin Edwards and the Communications Team
    “Solid reporting with terrific pictures.“
