Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, archbishop of New York, traveled to Israel and Palestine from 12 to 17 April as chair of CNEWA. His trip, intended to mark the 75th anniversary of Pontifical Mission for Palestine, CNEWA’s operating agency in the Middle East, also became a solidarity visit amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
“We Catholics, we Christians, can never forget where we came from. We came from here,” he said. “That’s why it is such a privilege and an honor for us to cooperate with you in the mission of Pontifical Mission [for] Palestine.
“It’s a duty, but it’s a joy.”
Cardinal Dolan visited CNEWA’s partners and programs, met with religious leaders, beneficiaries, families of hostages and the presidents of Israel and Palestine.
