Happy St. Patrick’s Day, from all of us at CNEWA.
In many places, parades have been cancelled, bars are being closed, restaurants are being shut down. It won’t be the St. Patrick’s Day that so many around the world may know. Nonetheless, we thought this a good time to recall some of the most famous words of this famous saint — honored by so many Christians, from both the East and the West — and ask for his prayerful intercession to guide us through these uncertain times.
He reminded us again and again that God is our strength and our guide — and these words from his famous “Breastplate of St. Patrick” can serve as our model and our hope.
“I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me;
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me afar and anear, alone or in a multitude.”
