The Summer edition of ONE is now available online — and it is a ONE like no other.
This ONE is devoted entirely to stories from the global coronavirus pandemic. It offers powerful first-person accounts of a singular moment in history, as people in CNEWA’s world write of their own experiences of isolation, lockdown and prayerful resilience.
During these challenging times, these “Voices From the Pandemic” give vivid testimony, reminding us how those we serve are facing these times with fortitude and faith.
Among the voices we hear:
Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem writes of how the people of the Holy Land are confronting COVID-19 with “courage and vision.” Anahit Mkhoyan of Caritas Georgia describes the difficulties of social distancing, and how “it challenges our vocation, our call to be a Christian and our very humanity.” And Teshome Fikre Woldetensae, a priest in Ethiopia, writes of ministering to his people during this time, when he can only say Mass in an empty church and feel sorrow at people’s loneliness and fear. In spite of all these challenges, the accounts offer tremendous hope, too — and you’ll want to hear what people are learning from this time.
Finally, we know you’ll want to hear the poignant reflections of CNEWA’s president, Msgr. John E. Kozar, has he prepares to retire on 30 June. He writes in his final Focus column: “I’ve been blessed to see how resilient faith can be, even in places devastated by persecution and war.”
There’s much more, so check out this extraordinary edition of ONE, and look for it soon in your mailbox.
