Working Together to Heal a Fractured World

There is no “us” and “them.” There is only us.
Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) has spent a century serving the most vulnerable across some of the world’s most troubled regions: the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India and Eastern Europe.
In a world divided by borders, ideology and conflict, we stand united in a simple belief transcending all divisions: We are all neighbors.
CNEWA works through local churches and organizations to serve where the need is greatest — empowering them to respond to urgent needs with dignity and hope. Our local teams, raised and rooted in the very communities they serve, know where help is needed most. They build trust, offer compassion and provide lifesaving support where others cannot go. We support:
- Refugees and displaced families
- Children suffering from hunger and malnutrition
- Communities ravaged by war, drought and disaster
- Hospitals, schools and shelters in underserved regions
And we do it quietly, effectively and without fanfare — just as we have since 1926.
CNEWA doesn’t receive government funding. And sudden changes in foreign aid policy have left massive gaps — turning cracks in care into chasms.
Ethiopia is starving. Once supported by U.S. food aid, the local church’s nutrition programs now struggle to feed children, orphans and people with disabilities in regions ravaged by war and drought. Over 19 million people suffer from malnutrition. In a place where young people’s futures are so precarious, your support of CNEWA can help a child beat the odds.
Jordan’s poorest are being left behind. At the Italian Hospital in Amman, the “hospital of the poor,” refugee families depend on care from dedicated Iraqi Dominican Sisters. With over half of Jordan’s population made up of refugees, the need is overwhelming and growing.
These are just two examples. The need spans continents.
Will you join us? Give today, and become part of a century-old mission of healing and hope. Help us fill the ever-widening cracks in this global safety net of compassion. Your support enables us to feed the hungry, heal the sick, educate the young and marginalized, shelter the displaced and empower communities to rise together on their own.
As one religious sister we work with put it: We don’t help because they are Christian. We help because we are. And working together as one human family, we can create a more just and merciful world for all.
