Working through the local churches and their institutional partners, CNEWA-Pontifical Mission has continued to provide food supplies, fuel for generators, potable water, psychosocial support and medical care to the displaced in Gaza since October 2023, even as the conflict intensifies.
A report released this month by Integrated Food Security Phase Classification estimates that 1.84 million people in Gaza are “experiencing high levels of food insecurity.”
“We’ve lost many children,” said a resident of Gaza. “I’ve personally lost relatives to hunger.”
“The Pontifical Mission has not stopped giving since the beginning of the war,” said Father Silas, a priest of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyrios in northern Gaza. “Despite the state of hunger that is now spreading, the Pontifical Mission continues to provide us with all kinds of food, canned goods and flour.”
