On 1 November, CNEWA held a photo exhibition of striking photographs published over several decades in its award-winning magazine, ONE. The photos were taken by women photojournalists in countries around the globe where CNEWA works.
“How beautiful that we would think of this on All Saints’ Day, when we think of the communion of saints, that we’re all in this together,” said Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan.
“So, when you see the assistance given to the church throughout the world by the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, it’s grand.”
The exhibition, titled “ ‘And Who is My Neighbor?’ The Faces of CNEWA,” was hosted by The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in New York. The 11 photos on display depicted the life of the local church and people in Ethiopia, India, Lebanon, the Holy Land, Jordan and Armenia, capturing unspoken, universal stories of humanity.
“There’s real beauty here in these images, almost like icons, of the beauty of God’s creation, the innate dignity that exists within every person, regardless of what their needs, circumstances, life challenges are,” said Michael La Civita, director of communications for CNEWA.
