For his December prayer intention, Pope Francis has called for prayers for those with disabilities: “Let us pray that people with disabilities may be at the center of attention in society, and that institutions offer inclusion programs that enhance their active participation.”
Promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities is a long-standing priority for CNEWA, which has a wide range of programs that provide support, care and joyful experiences to people with disabilities. In line with Pope Francis’ prayer intention, we will share a feature video from the ONE magazine archive that highlights this mission each Thursday through December.

St. Raphael Boarding School for the Blind in Azezo, Ethiopia, run by the Daughters of St. Anne, was the first of its kind in the country. It has been successful in giving children with visual impairment the skills they need for independent living and in debunking the traditional belief that children with visual impairment are curses on their families.
