CNEWA’s consolidated financial statements and audit for fiscal years 2023 and 2022 are highlighted in the agency’s newest Annual Report, published 23 July 2024.
Thanks to its many benefactors, partners and donors, CNEWA distributed $48,134,226 over a two-year period toward projects and programs at the core of its mission in answering the call put to Jesus — “And who is my neighbor?”
Funds include $13,738,333 to Accompany the Church for programs that form church leaders, lay, religious and clergy and to further their education; fortify the local churches; and assist the Holy See.
In the conflict-ridden world of the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India and Eastern Europe, CNEWA directed $31,090,903 in funds in 2023 and 2022 to respond to the human needs of the most vulnerable addressed by the men and women of the Eastern churches. This included funds in support of child care initiatives; care for the most marginalized, such as support for elder care, those with special needs and rehabilitation programs for survivors of human trafficking; health and wellness care, especially for migrants and refugees; and emergency relief programs in Armenia, Gaza, Syria and Ukraine.
CNEWA regional teams and programmatic partners “engage, listen and dialogue with church leaders, who are at the forefront of their communities’ crisis response, health care, social services and educational initiatives,” states the report.
“Through careful review and assessment,” the report continues, CNEWA works “in lockstep to meet these critical needs, evaluating potential programs and projects by considering their sustainability, both short- and long-term impact, commitment to the common good, environmental stewardship and strict policy controls.
“These controls ensure fiscal transparency, accountability and the protection of children and vulnerable individuals.”
