Sunday, 4 August 2024, marks the fourth anniversary of the horrific explosion in the port of Beirut that devastated the people of Lebanon. The tragedy has pushed over the edge an economy and banking system already in serious decline. Inflation has soared to an all-time high and nearly half of the population now face food insecurity.
Yet, during this instability and uncertainty, CNEWA is there. And we will continue to be there.
In CNEWA’s world, where ordinary people suffer economic, environmental, political and social turmoil, CNEWA is able to help those who suffer the most, all thanks to people like YOU!

Our longstanding presence in the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India and Eastern Europe, and our partnerships forged with the local Eastern churches, give us the unique opportunity to serve those who are in greatest need.

By partnering with local parishes, communities of religious sisters and social service initiatives of Lebanon’s many churches, CNEWA brings hope and healing to those most in danger of malnutrition. Your donations have fed more than 10,000 families — especially the elderly — ensuring they will no longer face the crushing indignity of food insecurity daily.
Throughout the areas served by CNEWA, Catholic health care facilities provide women essential maternity care — ensuring safe pregnancies and deliveries and healthy infants — as well as cancer screenings and other important medical tests. In countries with high maternal mortality, labor and childbirth can be one of the most dangerous medical experiences a woman can face. Thanks to YOU, hundreds of mothers are able to have safe, healthy pregnancies, and their babies now have a much brighter future.
