In India’s southern Karnataka state, where H.I.V. infection rates per capita exceed the national average, the church works to ensure that no one is forgotten or overlooked.
Through the Malnad Social Service Society’s Navajeevan Holistic and Palliative Care Center and the Jyothir Vikasa Social Service Society, those affected by H.I.V. and AIDS receive medical care and treatment, as well as prevention and educational services.
“Malnad Social Service Society is very much indebted to CNEWA for its generous support towards the emancipation of the poor and the neglected ones of the society,” said Father Abraham Areeparambil, director of Malnad Social Service Society.
The Jyothir Vikasa Social Service Society is “in touch with around 150 families” and is “supporting 30 children for the educational needs, providing them fees, food kits and study materials,” said the center’s director, Father Roy Vattakunnel, C.M.F.
