CNEWA

Make Your Christmas Gift for Those Most in Need

Imagine the confusion and chaos that first Christmas: shepherds startled by angels, drawn to a humble manger, discovering joy wrapped in swaddling clothes. What joy, what wonder, what warm love must have enveloped their hearts when encountering the gift of life in its most innocent and fragile form!

Today, our own Christmas rush can distract us from that same wonder. Advent invites us to pause and remember the love of God made flesh:

“For a child is born to us… Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:5

In Bethlehem, the City of David, families descended from those first shepherds continue to live out the good news. But decades of conflict, and more than two years of intensified war, have brought their livelihoods to the brink.

Tourism has collapsed. Jobs have vanished. Families are being forced to leave the very land where Jesus was born, land they have occupied for centuries. They are not collateral damage. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Across the Middle East, in Ukraine and the Caucasus, in Ethiopia and in every region scarred by disaster, vulnerable families are facing hunger, displacement and fear in what should be a holy season of happiness and warmth.

You can bring warmth and light to this frigid, dark world.

Thanks to its compassionate supporters, CNEWA provides food, medicine, shelter and pastoral care when crisis strikes. And as we enter Advent and approach Christmas and the year’s end, your generosity is urgently needed.

Your gift today helps the Eastern churches bring peace, dignity, healing and hope to families who are suffering, just as CNEWA has done for 100 years.

Thank you for being part of this mission of healing. May the peace and joy of Christmas be with you!

Share Your Prayer Intentions

This Christmas, our president, Msgr. Peter Vaccari, will once again travel to Bethlehem to celebrate the nativity in the very place our savior was born. Send your prayer intentions by 15 December, and they will be remembered in prayer by Msgr. Peter at the Masses marking the birth of Christ.
