At CNEWA, our mission is to bring hope to the most vulnerable — especially children. Across the rugged landscapes of the Horn of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and beyond, the communities we serve face overwhelming challenges daily. Nowhere is this more evident than in the lives of the children who find safety, care and a brighter future through child care initiatives of the church, which CNEWA proudly support.
From war-torn Ukraine to the arid lands of Ethiopia, CNEWA’s support of these programs making life-changing differences:
- Caritas programs in Ukraine provide psychosocial rehabilitation to children traumatized by war
- In Ethiopia, the Kidane Mehret Children’s Home cares for sick and disabled children whose families cannot
- Safe homes for orphaned children such as St. Abanoub in Port Fouad and St. Marina in Port Said offer love and stability to Egypt’s most vulnerable
- Little Prince Centers in Armenia ensure children in this war-torn region have access to healthy meals, tutoring and social support.
Each of these programs reflects the core of our work at CNEWA — empowering children to overcome immense obstacles and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Children under our care have faced unimaginable hardships. They’ve fled conflict and war zones; endured poverty, hunger and drought; lost families to natural disasters, war or trafficking. With your generosity, CNEWA provides essentials like education, health care and a safe space to grow — giving every child the chance to heal and flourish. Under the compassionate guidance of religious sisters, priests and trained caregivers, these children not only regain a sense of stability but also learn the values of kindness, self-sufficiency and stewardship of our planet.
These programs also offer psychosocial counseling, helping children recover from trauma, abandonment and abuse. Pope Francis reminds us, “Children who have hope are children who smile.” Yet so many we encounter have lost their smiles.
Together, we can bring them back.
By giving today, you can provide stability and comfort to a child in need. You can help them heal from deep emotional scars. You can offer them a future filled with hope and opportunity.
These efforts of the churches depend on the compassion and generosity of supporters like you. Please consider becoming a monthly donor to sustain our work for these children. Your consistent support ensures their access to vital resources and long-term care.
On behalf of all the children we serve, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Let’s bring healing and hope to their hearts — starting today.
